Graduate student recruiting at the AIChE conference

Penn State’s chemical engineering department will be meeting prospective students at a recruiting fair Sunday, October 29 at the AIChE conference in Minneapolis, MN. The recruitment fair will run from 9am to 5pm. If you are available for an hour to talk to prospective students about the department at the department’s booth, please email Kristen Fichthorn (fichthron[at]psu.edu) with your availability.

Call for abstracts for the 15th annual College of Engineering Symposium

The Engineering Graduate Student Council (EGSC) will be hosting a “Call for Abstracts” in the Kunkle Lounge on Monday, November 6, 5:30 to 7:30pm. In addition to learning about the upcoming College of Engineering Research Symposium (CERS 2018), students can also benefit from the presentation from Professor Michael Alley titled: “Making Presentations and Delivering a Poster” at the start of the event. Refreshments will be provided.

At CERS, students can showcase their research to a diverse audience of Penn State engineering/science faculty, students, and industry representatives and obtain valuable feedback on your writing and presentation skills. Students also compete for research/travel grants (totaling $5,000) for the Best Graduate/Undergraduate Paper/Poster, and Best Art in Science competition.

The timeline for CERS 2018 is as follows:

December 8, 2017 – Submit an abstract (maximum 150 words) for a paper and/or poster via the target=”_blank”>CERS 2018 website.
February 1, 2018 – Submit your paper.
March 14, 2018 – Submit your poster.
March 27, 2018 – Submit your Art in Science.
April 10, 2018 – Present your research in CERS 2018 at The Nittany Lion Inn.
